Here’s an interesting question: How do you spend your time? By that I mean, do you consciously think about what you’re doing and why you’re doing it? I heard a minister mention this subject a few weeks ago in a sermon, in which he stated that life is like a race, but you only get one lap. Now, he wasn’t advocating a naturalistic, “one run and you’re done” annihilationist position. Rather, he was making the point that if there is only one lap in this life, we’d better make it count for something beyond ourselves. Well, that got me thinking about my dreams and goals for the years that God has given me. Am I using them wisely?
Here’s something to think about: What are five things that you want to do before you die? Here are mine, just off the top of my head:
- Tour the Holy Land.
- Earn a doctorate.
- Officiate the weddings of my children.
- Regularly make out with my wife when we’re old.
- Pen a book that is beneficial to the health of the Church.
I’m not sure if each and every one of these is at the very top of my list, but it’s a good start. What would be on your top-five list?
“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15-16, ESV)
hahahahaha. I approve of your choices so long as “succeed in a singing career” is not on it. i hope to see you accomplish every one of those. and yes, I think about this idea too. I’ve been meaning to make a list. I guess my no.1 is : make a list
1. Get my PhD.
2. Have my own immaculately clean apartment.
3. Emigrate to the USA.
4. Get fluent in Finnish.
I think I only want to do four things. I cannot think of a fifth one.
God Bless
