There is something about being in your twenties that resists any hint of stability. We enter this decade normally in the chaos of college, with all of the pining, striving, and transience that comes with being an undergraduate. As soon as you take off the cap and gown, you’re off to either more school, beginning a career, or possibly even taking your wedding vows. Your twenties are arguably the single-most formative years of your life.
In keeping with this decade of confusion, instability, and yes, even panic, I have an announcement to make. One week ago I learned that I am a father. My lovely wife is pregnant with our first child, who will be born in April. Just in case you’re wondering, I couldn’t be more thrilled!
So yes, chaos continues to reign. A week before Janel and I found out about the pregnancy I decided that I would not be attending Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia as I had originally planned. Instead, I am now preparing applications for doctoral programs at a handful of universities. For the time being we will stay put here in North Carolina, waiting for our baby to be born and to hear if more education is going to be a possibility.
It’s an exciting time in life. For all of my friends who know full well the changes that come for twenty-somethings, here’s my contribution to the confusion.
Congratulations- looking forward to seeing DREW JR.
That’s Drew IV!
